I know it’s been over eight months since you last heard from me. Life was very unstable this year, & I had a lot to figure out, still have a lot to figure out. But, I didn’t want to let our annual tradition of holiday art end. I’ve come too far, eight years & counting, to stop now. However, there will be a twist in 2022. With everything that’s been going on in the world, specifically the rise of anti-Semitism, I thought Artmas could use a great big dose of Hanukkah light. Starting December 18th, I’m giving you eight nights of Artnukkah, spotlighting Jewish art & artists. I hope you understand why my Jewish heart is leading me in this direction. I’ve got an incredible lineup planned, & I promise you’re going to have so much fun & learn along the way. To hype it up even more, here’s a music video from Sarah Aroeste & Yehuda Shuky Shveiky; the song is Ocho Kandelikas, a Hanukkah song in Ladino, language of the Sephardim (Jews from the Iberian Peninsula). I saw this video for the first time a few days ago, & tears were flowing. I’d never before heard or seen something that mirrored the picture of my ancestors in my head & heart.
