Who is Carla Stickler? She auditioned for the national tour of Wicked in 2010 & made the cast as a standby for Elphaba. Two years later she moved to the Broadway production as an Elphaba understudy & member of the ensemble. In 2015 she left Wicked full-time, returning occasionally as an understudy or ensemble member. Fast forward to the present, she’s a software engineer & hasn’t played Elphaba in seven years. On January 1st, 2022, she answered Broadway’s call amidst COVID chaos, returning to Oz & donning green skin so the show could go on. I don’t know if I’d have the confidence to do something like that. The thoughts that must’ve been running through her head, the amount of pressure to lead a production last minute, experience or not . . . WOW WOW WOW! No matter how many times I return to this story, it blows my mind. Bravo Carla! Nay, BRAVA! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
