In 2014 I featured one of Alex Levin’s paintings in a post on my lifestyle blog about the 1st night of Hanukkah. Fast forward six years, I am finally featuring his beautiful paintings on my art blog. Since today’s sunset marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, let’s ring in the new year with a walk through the Hebrew calendar. Mr. Levin has a painting that perfectly represents each & every day of remembrance, festival, & holiday so get ready to see what you have to look forward to in the coming months. Shanah Tovah! *Note: This is the holiest day of the year, a day to atone for your sins.

🍋 October 2nd to 9th – Sukkot, Feast of Tabernacles 🌿
*Note: This holiday is all about agriculture, a time to celebrate the end of harvest & remember God’s provisions for His people.

📜 October 9th to 11th – Shemini Atzeret, Eighth Day of Assembly + Simchat Torah, Rejoicing With the Torah 📜
*Note: In with the new! This period of celebration marks the end of the public Torah reading cycle & the beginning of a new cycle.

*Note: Passover is a celebration of God delivering the Jews from slavery in Egypt. The name refers to the angel of death that passed over the homes of Jews during the tenth & final plague, specifically homes with goat or lamb’s blood painted around the door.

🕯 April 8th – Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day 🕯
*Note: This is a day to remember the 6,000,000+ Jews that died during the Holocaust. Never forget!

*Note: On this day in 1948, the country of Israel was born. 🎉

*Note: This is a day to remember the end of the Six-Day War; East & West Jerusalem were reunited, & Israel took control of the Old City.

*Note: The 9th of Av is considered the saddest day in the Jewish calendar because it coincides with Jewish tragedies such as the destruction of both Solomon’s Temple & the Second Temple. Definitely a day to watch out for misfortune!

💘 July 23rd to 24th – Tu B’Av, 15th of Av 💘
*Note: This is a holiday that could be described as the “Jewish Valentine’s Day.” It is a day of love & perfect for weddings. 👰🏻 💒 🤵🏽
