The Lulu’s Pies sign has gone dim for the last time on the Brooks Atkinson stage. Even though I never saw this show in person, I still feel like I experienced the spirit of it from the cast album, social media, & YouTube videos. After listening to the songs for the first time, I rewatched Adrienne Shelly’s film & realized how true to the source material the musical is. It made me smile! 😊 Today is all about Jenna. Her story isn’t about a perfect woman who makes all the right decisions; it’s about a flawed woman who makes wrong decisions. The point is that, in the end, Jenna sees her newborn baby’s face & becomes a mother. She is now making decisions that affect both her & a little human being. That is the moment she decides to leave her abusive husband Earl, put an end to her affair with Dr. Pomatter, & follow her dream of a pie shop to give her daughter Lulu the best life possible. Everything changes . . . for the better! Now it’s time to take a look at the 9 incredibly talented women that brought Jenna to life on Broadway.
