I’ve broken the rules before so I feel confident that you wont mind. This NYFW series is focused on fashion illustration, which is Alena Lavdovskaya’s specialty. However, I couldn’t help featuring photos from her portfolio for TSUM, a Russian store and magazine. The compositions and colors are creative and cool. They remind me of two things: comic books and pop art. I highly recommend you visit Alena’s instagram account because there is so much more to see.

Laura Kay is not the typical fashion illustrator. She doesn’t have a singular style that identifies her work; she has multiple which makes her work appealing to a broader group of people. I chose to spotlight a sample from a body of work that immediately piqued my interest. The outlines are bold and defined. The legs are willowy and fade from color to white. The faces are split in half, one side color and one side white. The facial features are small and cute, similar to that of kokeshi dolls from Japan. The styling looks trendy and fresh off the streets and runways of Los Angeles and New York City.
