💋 Part 1 – New York Fashion Week 2016 | Part 1

– Alexandra Nea Graham –

There is a softness and texture about Alexandra’s work that reminds me of colored pencils.  Whether or not that is the actual medium she uses, the effect gives her work a “Hot off the presses” feeling.  Better yet, “Fresh off the sketchpad.”  The lack of sharp outlines makes the colors stand out.  Her interpretation of faces depends on the direction they’re facing.  Profile expressions are simple.  Front-facing models have much more defined and detailed facial characteristics, especially the eyes and lips.  Perhaps this is common in fashion illustration and I haven’t been observant, but I find it very interesting.

– Clara Gomez –

I found Clara’s work at the last minute and had to add her to the lineup.  All of her models have a look and attitude that feels classic.  This is an advantage because the styles of today are a tribute to past decades.  A match made in heaven!  The way she combines textures and patterns is reminiscent of montage illustration.  I want to shine a much deserved spotlight on her expert handling of hair.  The shape and personality she is able to create is admirable considering hair is a difficult characteristic to capture.
