New York Fashion Week 2016 | Part 1 – Lauren Michele's Art Blog 🎨

It’s that time of year again! In honor of New York Fashion Week, I will be spotlighting fashion illustrators September 7–13. On September 16th, there will be a NYFW edition of “Best Dressed.” Enjoy!

Arturo’s use of highlights and shadows is exaggerated just enough to make his illustrations pop. His work is a balance of reality and hyperbolism. The facial expressions are so realistic that I find myself recalling faces from pop culture. For example, picture two reminds me of both Drew Barrymore and Rosie Huntington-Whitely; picture three resembles Twiggy (I’m 90% sure it’s her); and picture six looks like actress Annie Wersching. Artistic license comes into play with the elongated, graceful necks and limbs. Another element that catches my eye is the inspiration from certain decades, especially the 60s. This group of images is only a sample of Arturo’s work; if you visit his various sites, you will see more of this influence.
