I cannot believe I forgot to publish this post on May 1st. I have been waiting for “Avengers: Age of Ultron” for three years, and I missed the premiere date. All I can say is the hype is still very much real for me because I have not seen the movie yet. I hope you are still living in the moment as well and ready to look at some Marvel art. Today the spotlight is on Matt Kaufenberg. Random note: His style, for the most part, reminds me of Alex Hirsch’s work on the Disney animated television series “Gravity Falls.” Not a bad thing!
The first series is Kaufenberg’s interpretation of an avenger’s day off, excluding Agent Coulson who is an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. The four illustrations remind me of the Little Golden Books from my childhood, especially the color palette.
The second series is cartoon versions of superheroes in miniature, bobblehead form. These illustrations remind me of POP! Animation figurines. Naturally I have chosen to display characters from the Avengers films, but I do encourage you to visit Kaufenberg’s Instagram and look at the entire series.
