For my first post of 2015, I am spotlighting illustrator Joana Pereira. In college, my professors strongly encouraged me and my fellow students to be diverse as photographers. For example, even though I do not specialize in food photography, would I turn down a job offer with considerable pay? The smart thing to do is research and practice before making a decision. An even better scenario is learning a little bit of everything during school in order to be well-rounded and prepared for anything and everything in the industry. I bring this up because I am astounded by Joana Pereira’s artistic range. Within the twelve illustrations I chose for this post, there are six images portrayed with a cute- doll-like style, three of them accompanied by inspirational quotes. Additionally there are six images portrayed in a realistic style with uncanny resemblance to the subjects; three are black and white (probably charcoal or pencil), and three are color (probably paint). I highly recommend that you take the time to check out Ms. Pereira’s other work. I wanted to show everything but decided leaving you wanting more was the better decision.
